Everyone knows about the Acura Legend and how great it was, it's so good that some people who can afford newer model RL's would seriously consider buying an old Acura Legend and fixing it up. The Legend was a true luxury sedan, a legendary one!..... But can the all new RLX live up to that status? It has a ton of improvements but is it legendary?

I don't think the RL is legendary by any means. It could just be that in my standards legendary takes a lot. Enough so that most people know what car it is and it's value goes up rather then down.

The new RLX is a nice change from the old RL. Design aside (which is something that is controversial) the drivetrain, performance, and interior are excellent.

Won't be legendary at all but it will go down as one of the nicest Acura RL's around. With how much Acura has improved it I'm willing to bet this one will see much more aftermarket support than all the others.

I think for once (since the 1st generation) guys in the VIP/Bippu scene have a great car to work with from Acura and because of that aftermarket support could happen soon enough.

i dont think the RLX will be in the books of legendary. The RL even in the past looking at it now never was a legend. Unless... your talking about The Acura Legend in the past even that was a legend but became an affordable luxury car 10 years later.

As for the Vip/ Baht-poh scene, Im not sure if they would actually concider it to have much aftermarket support. As much as we do, The only thing is if the aftermarket parts are interchangeable from TLX.

2014 Acura RLX: Still Not Quite a Legend

Acura’s first flagship, the aptly named Legend of the late 1980s, was highly regarded among auto critics, and sold briskly enough to successfully launch Japan’s first luxury-car division. But as competitors multiplied and Acura began to soften its performance edge, then piled on more luxury trappings, the Legend began to lose its chutzpah. A brand-wide switch to two-letter model names a few years later helped turn the memorable Legend into the forgettable RL. Acura has been trying to get its flagship mojo and legions of buyers back ever since.

someone that commented on that article made a good point....
The largest issues with Acura are identity, direction and how they align the sedans among their peers. By that I mean cars like the TL compete with the lower end 5 Series and the top end 3 Series models. That's just stupid!
Acura is really failing to properly give it's cars an identity, but its hard especially when they're about affordable luxury. I think Acura it going to have to stop aiming for BMW if they are and settle to compete with brands like Buick & Kia's/Hyundai's future luxury models
