I just bought a 2014 RLX AND THEY INSTALLED A REMOTE START. I can't believe this luxury car didn't come with it already but that's another forum. My question - you engage the remote start and the car turns on. You walk over to get in and drive off BUT THE CAR TURNS OFF THE SECOND YOU TOUCH THE DOOR HANDLE. You then get in the car and have to start it a second time. Someone please tell there is a fix to this. I keep hearing that it's a security feature because someone could drive off without having the FOB in the car. It seems to me that that is the flaw with Acura's remote start if there is no work around for it. My ford explorer - hit remote start, open door, touch button, drive off - easy peasy and it makes sense.

I'm going aftermarket. I looked at the oem and it's features, for the same price I'm getting so much more. Even an ap that's cheaper than the link Acura offers. I had the same system in my last car and it was awesome. Good luck man.

Hmm

I was going to get the remote start until they told me it would cost ~$300 to install. I also looked into getting an aftermarket 1 but then I would have to carry around 2 key fobs. Since I have a garage, I decided altho it would have been nice to have, it was not really necessary.

I was told that the car would not drive unless it detected the key fob in the vehicle.

I understand that in cold climates it is handy to have remote start. But let's face it, it is a security issue, a safety issue and an eco issue. In Toronto, they just nabbed a multi million dollar theft ring that was shipping cars to Africa...mainly picking off cars that used remote start in the driveway every day. I think we can all learn to turn on our seat and wheel heaters, wait for a minute, and we can all be safe and good for the environment.
