Can $1 Billion save Acura??

Cars like the RLX, ILX, and future NSX and MDX are great vehicles for the Acura brand but already the ILX and RLX are getting not so great reviews. With reviewers saying these cars are good, but not great, especially the RLX which is Acura's flagship vehicle at the moment.

Can Acura be saved with Honda's $1 Billion investment? What do YOU think needs to be done?

See the below...

Honda is putting $1 billion into its luxury brand Acura to ensure a proper performance in its target markets. Honda was the first Japanese automaker to sell a luxury car in the U.S. The Acura never reached the peaks enjoyed by Toyota’s Lexus line, the top-selling luxury brand in the U.S. from 2000 to 2011. The company now wants to change that and place the Acura above the rest. - See more at: Honda Invests $1 Billion To Save Acura Luxury Brand

This is a good thing. Acura desperately needs more attention from Honda.

They need to be more competitive. It's one of those companies which have the potential to produce some of the most competitive cars but recently they have been lacking.

Hmm.. Do we see an even more powerful TL? More powerful RLX?

Will we finally see a sports coupe?

They have to improve the ILX.

Seeing how Scion pull it's self out of a dark hole with the FR-S and now has people looking at every other vehicle it has due to the FR-S....Acura needs a competitor for it.

It's like this with any amazing car a car maker releases, everyone becomes interested in everything else they have since the technology gets trickled down to all the other cars.

$1 billion better be well spent, hope 2013 brings some surprises.
This is very good news. Acura is getting left in the dust by other luxury competitors. It needs to seriously step up its game.

I agree with RLXfan, I do hope some of that money is being used to introduce something like the FR-S/BRZ. People will be clamoring for an affordable RWD from Acura.
Yup, especially after Honda dropped production of the Honda S2000 the hype around Honda and Acura's performance has gone down. They need to bring back a compact front engine rear wheel drive 2 door asap so they can leave the same impression they did with the S2000.
I think its a matter of how much money will be invested in to make changes and the research and development. And most importantly a CEO who has the right idea in mind to lead the company in the right direction. So putting money invested in the right pot will make a significant difference if you look at it strategically.
Well first of all it just seems like that 1 billion dollars is not widely spread around to other vehicles. From the looks of it Acura is spending way too much time and money on the Acura NSX. They are putting all their eggs in this one basket. I'm not sure if thats the best idea.I mean its such an expensive car, who will really buy it in the end even if it is great.

First thing I would suggest to Honda is to maybe hire a new designer because they need to realize how competitive the auto market is getting. They cant release these sub par looking cars. Just look at Lexus and Infiniti Their cars look amazing for 2014 after the revisions. Acuras I find sometime just look a bit boring so most of the money should be placed in to the design to draw more interest.
I agree it's time Honda/Acura starts focusing more on styling. Everyone loves them for their reliability, now we need to to salivating over it's styling. I'm tired of ppl equaiting Honda with bland and boring looking.
