Curious if anyone has successfully petitioned against this. I know in every state that has the surcharge the intent was that hybrids aren't using enough gas, and thus are responsible for the shortage of gas tax dollars used for road maintenance.
Seems anti-progressive on high-mpg hybrid cars, and downright asanine on cars like my RLX Sport Hybrid. Why am I paying $100 more than my neighbor, who drives a gas-only compact SUV that gets better mileage than I do?
